Stave is a bespoke practice. We don’t work from a catalogue, and we don’t make all our cabinetry and kitchens the same way. What follows describes the kind of work we do most often — not the limits of what we’ll do.

  • Carcasses are built from 18mm birch plywood, solid wood, or a high-grade veneered panel, depending on the project.

    Where a plywood edge suits the design, we leave it exposed; where it doesn’t, it’s banded in solid timber.

  • We work in a range of styles, from traditional to contemporary.

    The ones we return to most often:

    • In-frame Shaker.

    • Flat panel, painted.

    • Solid timber, exposed.

    • Exposed plywood frames.

    • Flat and handleless.

  • Painted finishes are either hand-applied in traditional paints for a softer, more characterful look of a properly painted room, or sprayed in two-pack lacquer for harder-wearing durability.

  • Hardware is Blum as standard, or equivalent specification — soft-close hinges, full-extension drawer runners, and Tandembox-style drawer systems.

    Handles are specified per project; we work most often in brushed bronze, blackened steel, unlacquered brass, and solid timber bar handles in oak or walnut.

  • We work most often in marble, quartzite and solid timber for islands and breakfast bars.

  • Installation is included: delivery to site, fitting, adjustment, and a six-month snagging period during which we return as needed.

    The following are not included as standard, and are typically arranged by your builder or main contractor: structural work, electrical first-fix, plumbing first-fix, plastering, flooring, decorating, and final connection of appliances and plumbing fixtures.

    We coordinate closely with your contractor through the build, but the contractor is engaged separately by you.

  • Our standard payment structure is as follows:

    •       £350 design consultation fee, credited to the project on signing

    •       25% on contract signing, due before design development begins

    •       50% on order of materials and start of manufacturing

    •       20% on installation

    •       5% retained for thirty days after handover

  • Cabinetry and joinery: ten years against defects in materials and workmanship.

    Hardware: covered by the relevant manufacturer warranty. Blum components, where specified, are typically covered for life.

    Painted finishes: five years against cracking, peeling, or significant fading from normal household use.
